Description
This interactive e-learning course includes a mix of text, videos, animations and practice questions. You will learn how to design, implement and manage an aerosol system. You will gain in-depth knowledge of aerosol technology, aerosol generators and fire suppression control systems and discover how to effectively apply aerosol systems in practice. You can complete the e-learning entirely at your own pace, whenever and wherever it suits you.
Target audience
The e-learning Aerosol System Knowledge is intended for system specialists and designers of aerosol fire suppression systems, also referred to as ‘aerosol design and system engineers’. These professionals work for fire protection companies and are responsible for designing aerosol fire suppression systems in accordance with relevant standards and guidelines.
Level
No prior education is required. The Project Engineer Fire Alarm Systems (Dutch: Projecteringsdeskundige Brandmeldinstallaties) diploma is an advantage.

After registration, you will receive access to Kiwa’s online learning environment. Here you can start your e-learning course. After starting the training, the e-learning will be available for 6 months.
Goals
After completing this e-learning course, you will:
- Understand the operation, applicability and safety aspects of aerosol fire suppression systems and be able to critically assess in which situations this technology can be applied effectively.
- Be able to explain the design, operation and activation methods of aerosol generators and recognize different versions in relation to their application.
- Be able to explain how a fire alarm system controls an aerosol fire suppression system and which technical and regulatory requirements determine reliable detection and activation.
- Be able to design an aerosol fire suppression system based on standards, guidelines and performance requirements, including calculations, system design and documentation for approval and implementation.
- Know what to consider when commissioning, handing over, managing and maintaining an aerosol fire suppression system to ensure that functionality and safety remain safeguarded over time.

The e-learning course concludes with two online exams:
- Aerosol Systems, General (Dutch: Algemeen)
- Aerosol Systems, Design (Dutch: Ontwerpen)

If you successfully complete both exams in this e-learning course, you will receive a certificate of participation.

The K23003 describes the processes with regard to supplying of the basic- and detailed design, installation and the maintenance of fixed fire-extinguishing systems based on condensed dry aerosol for structures and compartments.

The K21045 Fire Protection Systems Assessment scheme is a scheme for Testing, Inspecting and Certification (TIC) Fire Protection Systems.
K21045 SCP01 Fire extinguishing generators based on the extinguishing medium nitrogen
The specific certification program ‘SCP01 N2 Generators’ focuses on fire suppression generators that use nitrogen as the extinguishing agent, also referred to as nitrogen generators based on a solid condensed compound. SCP01 is conducted under the TIC scheme ‘K21045 Fire Protection Systems’ and outlines the requirements Kiwa applies when issuing a product certificate for N2 fire suppression generators.
K21045 SCP06 Fire Protection of Livestock in Stables Based on Water Mist Systems
The Specific Certification Programme SCP06 Fire Protection of Livestock in Stables based on Water Mist includes a test protocol designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of a fire protection system based on water mist in stables. SCP06 is implemented in accordance with the test, inspection, and certification scheme K21045 Fire Protection Systems and contains the requirements applied by Kiwa when applying for a product certificate.
K21045 SCP07 Remote access & services on Fire pump systems for sprinklers
For the execution of the bi-weekly testing of the sprinkler system, a scope has been defined in the Specific Certification Programme ‘SCP07 Remote Access & Services on Fire pump Systems for Sprinklers’, which is carried out under the Test, Inspection & Certification scheme ‘K21045 Fire Protection Systems’.
